Adjusting to College Times...

Well, everyone is now moved in, school has been going for over a month now, and the tux shop is back up and running. I am just as busy as ever. Plus the weather changed over night, so I pulled out all my hats and vests!! Happy times! Anyway, a few things I wanted to share!

It has been quite the enjoyable experience having Jeff so close by. Often times I use my little blade scooter that I got in 7th grade to zip over to Jeff's apartment quickly. We have been very much taking advantage of my starving student card. We enjoyed our 50 cent date the other day, eating our free pizza from blackjack, then getting a free dessert pizza from Pier 49 Pizza, then two ice cream cones from Macey's. It was quite nice. And cheap. Our college student wallets seem to like those dates better, and it ends up focusing more on the quality time spent together rather than trying to impress each other. Also, my roommates have been getting along rather nicely with Jeff as well, which is wonderful! Here are some pictures! Also! Jeff and I did it again! We wore matching outfits for the third time. I guess technically he wasn't wearing a turtleneck, but he came in wearing his jacket all zipped up, so it looked like it. Anyway, hi-larious. To the left shows Jeff in a drunken state while I try to support him in his condition. This is a common occurance... Ok, so that is a lie. Jeff is actually a pretty decent drunk... just kidding.

Also, I wanted to post a few pics of my roomies! They are very awesome. And very amused at Nicole and my ways. But we all end up having good times at the end of the day. They are very wonderful roommates, and we all have common interests, and are very civil in our dealings. It is a great situation to be in!

Pictures coming soon. It stopped working for some reason unknown...

Muse... is the best. Ever.

So, I have never been to a concert before. I guess I have gone to a Clay Aiken concert here and there, and things like that, but never a rock concert such as this. I absolutely did not know at all what to expect. All I knew was that I loved Muse, and heard they were awesome live! So, off we went!Nicole, Drew, Jeff and I were all dressed in black clothes (not intentional, just happened that way.) and Nicole and I went all out with our "arm warmers" which I bought for 50 cents at icing. We looked so hard core. Off we went to the McKay Events Center at dear old UVSC.
There was already a HUGE line before the concert, and we showed up a half hour before the doors opened. Luckily, we had a friend, Joanna waiting for us at the front, so we waltzed right up, and then the doors opened, and we were individually checked for weapons and drugs (I was clean! Whew!) and we made our way to the floor, as we just had general seating. We were about 3 rows from the front of the stage, but was getting more and more nervous as Jeff told me people were going to be fighting to get to the front...
The opening band came out. They weren't the best. We were saving most of our energy for Muse. Then, as the SECOND opening band came out, Juliette and the Licks, who were ok as well, but the crowd started to get a little bit more crazy. Since Muse was coming out next, people started to smash towards the front. It was hard to keep our little group together. People became vicious, elbowing, jabbing and such, just to maintain their spot. Everybody was so squished, I wasn't even able to move my arms. I could have easily picked up my feet, and not have fallen an inch, we were so packed in there. later on we started to smell drugs and things, which was gross, and we were now sopping wet in other people's sweat. I feared for Nicole's life, as she was the shortest, and furthest away from the fresh air.

So you can imagine how insane it was when Muse came out. Of course they sounded amazing from the first note. They started out with Knights of Cedonia. SOOOOO good, but I was a little distracted by trying to breathe properly. Jeff and Drew wrapped around Nicole and I, just in order to keep us together and give us breathing room, but they were suffering as well. Finally, on the verge of passing out, the boys decided that as cool as it was to be so close to the front, it was time to move back.

We literally moved back 3 rows, and now had dancing and headbanging room. Which was awesome. Jeff took some awesome footage on his little camera, and took pictures, and we just totally jammed! THEY WERE SO GOOOOOOD!

ABOUT THE CONCERT: Matthew, the lead singer, is a concert pianist, which he uses in most of his songs. So what does he do about that in his concerts? He has a grand piano that has a clear top with lights reflecting off when each note was played....... So. Awesome. And the lighting was insane as well. They were a BILLION times better live than on the CD, which is so wonderful. They were just... so cool. So... cool.

So by the end of the concert, after coming back out for a three song encore, we headed out. Sopping wet. From other people's sweat. I realized that I had lost my belt from my new shirt at some point, and as the crowd cleared, I found it had traveled to the very front row, and had been trampled for sure, but was in tact!

In the end, Muse was ABSOLUTELY incredible. Better than I could have imagined. And as crazy and scary being at the concert was, I loved every second. It was QUITE an experience, and felt that I should know what it is like to be there at least once in my life! If Muse ever comes back, I will be right there... about 6 rows from the front!

Twice in every show, there comes a song like this!

That is right. Tonight, Nicole, Lacie, and I (and also Megan!) made our way to Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City to see the glorious Traveling Company of Spamalot perform! OMG. It was so funny. Holy cow. Seriously. Absolutely fantastic! The sets were amazing! (Such as when they were in the "dark and very expensive forest.") Of course everyone did amazingly at their parts (Bravo to the Lady of the Lake!) and we laughed at the smallest little jokes to the amazingly glorious songs. I was wondering how they were going to do a lot of things (for example, in the movie, they never actually FIND the grail, instead they get ambushed by police for killing the historian. In the play they find the grail under seat D101.) and also, yes, the black knight DID lose all his limbs, right there on stage, minus the ridiculously fake gushing blood.
Anyway, it was WAY awesome, and I wished I had a million dollars so I could A. Buy better seats that were closer, and B. Buy all the awesome souvenirs they had there, which included killer bunny slippers, SPAM with olde english cooking instructions, and some killer awesome t-shirts.

Men's Den Under Water

Well, while we were all having such a nice Sunday evening, watching home movies and eating mashed potatoes, back at the mall a busted pipe was draining water by the gallons all night, settling at about 3 inches of water in each store from Mervyn's to Gap, which of course, includes Men's Den.

I got a call from Nathan on Sunday evening telling me not to bother coming in for my Labor Day shift (HOORAY!!!) The bad news is no hours for Elise. I asked Nathan if there was anything I could do, and I came in for a few hours today to take hems out of all of our pants to send to dry cleaning... Just to test if we can save them after all. Luckily Nathan is very well insured, and most things can be replaced.

So, what of the damage? Basically anything that was 3 inches from the floor or below is ruined. Which inclues: EVERY pair of pants we own, which soaked up all the dirty, muddy water. (Even our extra stash of pants in the basement, because, well, water went DOWN the stairs as you can imagine...) also, our Demarco coats which were in the basement as well, which also happen to be our most expensive coats. Our vests, and about 200 shirts were ruined. All the carpet was pulled up, all the furniture was moved, holes in the wall... It was a disaster. Anyway, apparently I won't be in work until Monday...
