So Jeff and I were spending a day with Mom, Dad, and Drew to go to Eliza's wedding reception which was just lovely. We then spent the greater part of the evening shopping and hanging out with each other. But there were two occasions in the night where we laughed so hard it brought us to tears, and I thought I should document them for posterity's sake, and because they have become regular quotes in our vocab now.
The first was when we were driving away from Ross, and mom mentioned something about Old Navy, and dad, having a long standing hatred for the store began to object, saying he will never go in that store again.
"The music!" he said! "It is just horrible!" and proceeded to demonstrate by changing into a very fast paced, falsetto voice, singing, "ALL NIGHT! ALL NIGHT!" as if to sing some kind of techno song, which usually has the subject of dancing, partying, or just having fun... all night. We immediately all started laughing, as well as every 3 seconds we would start singing it again. Ha ha ha!
The second came from mom. We were back at home, doing some drawings for mom, and she started to talk about her daring kids. She then told us that Drew was so daring. I said, "Oh really? Why is Drew so daring, huh?"
And practically with out hesitation and completely serious, she said, "He always goes on the tallest slides!"
We all started laughing with tears running down our faces at this. Through our laughter, we asked if she meant, like, slides at the park? Or water slides? Or what!? Drew suggested she meant that big metal slide at the PG park, or just on the play ground, the big, plastic swirly kinds, rather than the 3 feet ones near the bottom, but mom said she meant the actual water slides, but yes, Drew was brave as a boy to go off the big slides in the park as well. I guess Drew is pretty brave. He always goes off the tallest slides.
We have hilarious parents indeed. Thanks for the good times, mom and dad.
A few funny things to note...

I can't stop laughing about Dad singing that. I can't totally hear it. Laughing still. Thanks for the pick me up after dropping the girls off at the airport. You were so missed around here. But I'll be coming in a matter of weeks, so keep the funnies coming.
Of COURSE, the big slides. That is the test for daring, and I knew Drew passed it long long ago. Why is it funny?
Oh Dad and the music. He was always complaining about the music at Old Navy. I wish I'd been there to hear the singing.
Lets make a new NAEC with your dad singing the Old Navy music in the background. Lol, I really want to hear him sing that. But he is right, the music is dreadful and when I worked there I had a headache everytime I left.
And I agree with Cami. I thought everyone knew that to be darling you choose the big slides? Where were you Elise? On the small ones? Tisk. Don't worry though, I was too. It seems that we all have to learn some "darling" from Drew.
OMG, I am so glad you have documented this for all the world to see. That day each of my parents made me cry laughing in turn. And Dad is right about the incessant music at Old Navy. And Mom is right about me being daring about the tall slides.
And Lacie, not darLing, but daring!
All night, all night!
Ha ha ha! This music that Dad hates. I totally understand, I hate it too. Glad you guys had fun and funny times!
All night, all night....that is the best. I can totally picture dad doing that.
