The Fountain of Youth

Well, yesterday was my birthday, and I turned the old age of 22. I, for some odd reason, still feel like I am 18. But sometimes I feel like I am 30. And some days, I feel like I am 27, while some days I feel as if I am 13. But I guess I am 22 now.
So I had an awesome party with Jeff's fam. We had a delicious chicken BBQ dinner which was followed by presents! Jeff's family never fails to provide when it comes to birthday presents! Jeff got me the card game Dominion (which I had ordered for him for our anniversary not 2 hours prior to opening... oops! Canceled that one!) and the Super Mario Bros Wii! One of the only games I usually play. He also got me the whole set of the Chronicles of Narnia, which I have always dreamed of owning! Becky, Janna and Rosie got me some Mary Kay make up which is really cute, and everyone got me some Mary Kay body wash and lotion. But the big ticket item (literally) was the tickets to WICKED that Jeff's parents gave me!!!!!!!! For this Thursday in San Francisco! I was completely taken by surprise! One of my greatest wishes will come true this Thursday!

So it was very thoughtful of everyone and they did a brilliant job at making my birthday special! We finished the night with funfetti cake and ice cream. A great birthday!

Really cute headband and boots that Becky got for Penny.

And finally, here's one of the cute outfits we got for Penny in Hawaii!

And we're back!

Hawaii was amazing. Penny was fabulous. The weather was awesome. We already want to go back. Sigh. Anyway, we had such a fun trip! Here are some highlights:

Penny slept most of the ride on the plane and was pleasant most of the time. She certainly attracted a lot of people. Mostly they were surprised at about how young she is, which is funny because I feel like she is so old.

Our hotel gave us all a mini cooler that we each could fill up with continental breakfast items (muffins, donuts, pastries, yogurts, fruit, cereal, etc.) and take with us to eat on the beach!

Jeff surprised me with dinner at Keo's, a very delicious Thai restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal! Man, those spring rolls were good.

We also went to celebrate our 2nd anniversary! Here we are kissing.

We had an awesome hotel room on the 22 floor. It was so comfortable and very festive. They provided a crib and everything.

Penny was such a good girl and slept her longest nights ever! The last night she fell asleep starting at the PCC during their show at about 8:30 and slept until about 6:15 the next morning. Way to go, Penny!

We stopped by the Temple as well, which was beautiful and sadly closed for renovation. Maybe next time, eh?

We always need to take jumping pictures. This was my favorite beach ever. Such beautiful clear, blue waters.

We also visited the Dole Factory. I love the fish pond the best. Remember Em and Mel? The fish they have there now are about 5 times the size of the fish that we saw back when. Perhaps our little fish friends are just growing up?

We stopped at Pali look out. It was insanely windy.

Penny looked cute with her little flower they gave us at the temple.

We then went snorkling at Shark's cove. Penny wore her cute bikini.

The Robinson's had many suggestions for us to do, and we did most of them. One of them was to stop and get this hamburger, and boy were we glad we did! There was a whole avocado on it!!! Thanks for the recommendations KC and family!
We went to Hanauma Bay for snorkeling (I am not big on snorkeling, so I mostly watched the fish from the shoreline with Penny, but Jeff and his parents saw lots of fish, some eels, and a turtle or two!) Twins, remember that song from the movie they make you watch? "Please don't feed me, there's food enough for me!" We giggled.

Penny loved sitting on the beach. She slept for a good hour and a half here!

We also visited the PCC, which was awesome! They had an amazing luau, lost of great entertainment and activities, and Penny was such a good girl!

Here she is doing the hula in her sleep.

Anyway, it was fantastic. Thanks to Jeff's parents for helping out so much and driving those crazy streets! It was extremely appreciated! More pictures and movies to come soon enough!

Hawaii Eve

Tomorrow morning we board the plane to paradise! And I am becoming more confident about bringing this little Penny all the while. She has been so happy and good with her sleeping habits (knock on wood) that I am thinking this actually might work out!

We also have discovered that Penny's favorite thing in this world is the swing:
I left her just rocking in here for about an hour yesterday, and she was as happy as she could possibly be! We are definitely going to need one of these when we get home.

We made it!

Well, we attempted the 12 hour drive all the way to the Bay Area yesterday, and it actually went pretty well! After an INSANE 3 days of running around and using every spare minute to clean, move, pack, unpack, work, organize, 12 hours of just sitting didn't actually sound that bad... Wednesday was probably one of the busiest days I have ever had in my life, going to my last day of work while Jeff finished cleaning our apartment (Thanks everyone who helped, especially Lacie and Leland who sacrificed so much of their time!) and then we headed back to mom's where we started to pack for our month long trip and organize all the madness we didn't end up bringing to Melody's (our temporary storage unit-basement. THANKS A TRILLION MEL AND JONNY!) we then made stops at Comcast to cancel internet/tv, at our landlord to drop off our keys, at our church in Provo to renew our Temple recommends, at our apartment one last time to so some last minute cleaning to ensure we get our deposit back (but I highly don't think we will... they always find something, even though we were there when they did the check) and then finally to mom's, where we finished cleaning and packing. Thanks a bajillion to mom for holding Penny for several hours while we finished up. I feel bad bringing a fussy baby after everyone in that house does nothing but care for babies. But Emily's babies are the cutest, and I wouldn't mind looking at their chubby faces all day! Anyway, we finished up around 10, and finally got a good sleep (even Penny went down at about 11). When we woke up at 5, we just gathered some last minute things, since Jeff had prepacked the car last night, and off we drove by 5:30! Penny was asleep by the time we passed American Fork Canyon, and didn't wake up until about 9:30 when we stopped for breakfast.

We stopped at McDonalds, and put a blanket down on the table and let Penny kick and play to her hearts content. This was a deluxe establishment! The kids place had a three story play place, a video game station, fuseball and airhockey and other fun things! If only Penny had been slightly older! Anyway, we had a good system down of pumping milk in the car, feeding it to Penny and then stopping after to let her burp and play.

Jeff made good time driving, making up for these half hour stops. But the drive was mostly pleasant. Since I left every DVD we own at Cami's, we rented some red boxes on the way, and Penny continued to sleep the entire drive. The only time she was wide awake was between Truckee and Sacramento for about an hour, where she just happily looked around and babbled. In the last half hour stretch, she started to get a bit fussy, but nothing the binky couldn't handle. We pulled up to Jeff's house 13 hours later, and when we got her out, she was nothing but smiles and giggles for Grandma and Grandpa!

I think the day finally caught up to her later in the night, and she got a bit fussy. Surely her digestive system is not quite caught up after being held up in the carseat all that time. I am waiting for that blowout still...
Anyway, it was stressful, but a success! And now we have so many things to look forward to, including Hawaii on our Anniversary coming up on Monday! YAY!

So thank you EVERYONE for being so helpful and willing! We appreciated knowing that our family was there to help out (and DID help out a lot) and it really made this so much less stressful and fun! After all, this is the first time in about 5 years that I will have a working-free summer! A much anticipated break!
Once again, this little toy saved the day. She just stares and stares and stares. Especially on the bumpy roads where it moves around a lot.

We put Penny in the hot tub here to relax her little stiff body, and she LOVED it, and then we swaddled her up, and put her to bed, and she just slept from 10-5:30 (or 11-6:30 Utah time) which is making me feel a lot better about our upcoming Hawaii trip! But we'll see how it goes. Wish us luck!

Moving on

I think one of the biggest rewards in life has to be waking up to a softly babbling (well rested!) baby who gives you big smiles when you finally peer into their crib to give them their breakfast.

Life has been insane lately with trying to get moved out of our apartment, cleaning and working while entertaining Penny. It has been quite the challenge, and I will be happy when this ridiculous moving business is over once and for all. Only a few more loads left... I wish we owned a truck, as I hate asking others to help us with moving. Melody and Jonny have generously loaned their basement to us as a temporary storage unit. Anyway moving is a nasty business, and I can't wait until I am sitting on the beach next week.

Even though this baby is driving me crazy right now, here is a cute video of some of her first giggles.

In other news, Penny and Brady are now roughly the same size.

I can't believe how big these babies are! Especially considering this picture from 8 weeks ago:

I went with Emily to get my first pedicure ever. I wanted to have cute feet to bury in the white sands of sunny Hawaii (and California). It was a brilliant experience. I have never felt so pampered before in my life! And I can actually look at my toes with out cringing as well.

I can't get enough of these two!

Penny had her 2 month check up today. She weighed in at 11 lbs 11 oz., and was 23.5 inches tall. She was in the 90th percentile for height, 75th for weight and 50th for head size. Fabulous stats, my Penny babe.

Our Big Baby Face

It is insane how times just flies. Penny is already over 2 months old! I shall now showcase all her skills and talents so you can all marvel at this mighty 9 week old baby.

First off, she is extremely cute and pleasant to be around. That in itself is a very sought-after skill.

Also, she can kick like there's no tomorrow. Sometimes I like to imagine she is really standing up against a wall (kind of like those kindle commercials or whatever) and she is just doing a cool dance. Try it out, it makes these videos much more interesting.

And also, she likes to hold onto her toys now! She will rattle these keys for hours! Or just until her little hands unclench.

She also loves car rides still. Mostly because she gets to look at her little mobile we got from ikea. She smiles really big as soon as I flip back the handle of her carseat to reveal her favorite toy.

We love our Penny Face. (Today Jeff has taken to calling her Pennini today. Zupas, anyone?)
